North Eastern Brazilian Dance Class

ONLINE

In 2020 we started a regular class in North Eastern Brazilian dance styles. Given that we’re still in Covid restrictions we’ve decided to do an online version. We’ll be premiering the video on Youtube so you can watch it directly on our channel, on this web page, or links we’ve shared on Facebook.

This class is perfect for anyone who’s always wanted to give Carnival dance a try, through to more experienced dancers wishing to extend their understanding of Pernambucan dance styles from the North East of Brazil…and now you can do it from the comfort of your own home.

Join Louise and Freya from Juba do Leão in this homemade online video! After some background about Maracatu from Holly, Freya will kick things off with a warm up, then Louise will take you through some steps from the Maracatu tradition from Pernambuco, in North East Brazil. You’ll learn some simple steps then we’ll put it all together into a short choreography. The video ends with a cool down from Freya.
